Schedule
Day 1
What in the world is a euglena? Using foldescopes, (paper microscopes), we will be closely looking at euglena and learning of its unique functions and body parts.
Is it a plant or animal? What is the long tail-like thing? Can it see? --- These are just a few of the questions we will be answering with this exploration.

Lunch will be Pesto Pasta sprinkled with powered euglena (for extra nutrients!).
We will then have a brief introduction to the amazing field of chemistry as well as the recently expanding interest on biofuels and (of course), the euglena's prominent role there.
Afterwards, using all the information they have learned, there will be a Euglena Jeopardy followed by a fruit snack.

Lastly, we will be making bracelets out of eco-friendly materials before our day finally comes to an end.
Now with a working knowledge of what the euglena is, we will be starting off the day learning the nutritious benefits of euglena.
Following the lesson, we will be making pizza (sprinkled with euglena powder) and chocolate-chip cookies, which we will eat for lunch.
After our stomachs are full, we will be playing Euglena Game of Life!, a fun original game to learn how the history of the euglena and how it has been discovered and developed through the years.
Afterwards, we will head outside to Mitchell Park (neighboring park) to eat snacks and play games.
Our final time spent together will be a discussion on climate change and how to protect the earth before we finally say goodbye.
